Frequently Asked Questions

What is Universal Studies?

Universal Studies is a study abroad organization that organizes and hosts all-inclusive programs for individuals and groups. These programs allow people to study English and explore California.

Can I apply even if my English is not so good?

Good news! You do not have to possess perfect language skills to fulfill your dream. As you embark on your adventure, you will learn the language and culture at your own pace with others who have similar abilities and you will find yourself dreaming in that language after a few short days abroad.

Do I need to get a visa before I apply?

Some of our programs require a student visa (those in which you attend an intensive English class), others only require a Visitor Visa or ESTA.

How do I obtain a visa?

This process is very easy when following one of the many guidelines available. Keep in mind that our staff helps you in the process of obtaining your visa.

F1 Student Visa: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/study/student-visa.html

B2 Visitor Visa: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/tourism-visit/visitor.html

ESTA: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/tourism-visit/visa-waiver-program.html

How can I join one of your programs?

The sign-up process is very simple. Just go to the program on our website you are interested in and submit your information using the “Get A Free Quote” Form. We will then get in contact with you and guide you through the process of joining our programs.

Summer & Winter Programs:

My parents are hesitant to allow me to go abroad. What should they know about your programs?

Of course your parents only want the best for you and may have many questions. First and foremost, let your parents know that you will be living with us as a family who will welcome you into their home as a son or daughter. Any other specific questions they have can be answered by a US Representative either via meeting on Skype or any format they are comfortable with.

What is a typical day like in the life of a participant?

As we are family at Universal Studies, we refer to participants as siblings. Every day starts with a family breakfast, followed by English Class at a Language School with a focus on Grammar, Writing, Listening and Conversation. After Lunch break we head out to places such as San Francisco, Santa Cruz, the Silicon Valley and many more to enjoy the daily interactive afternoon activities. Every evening we come together for a delicious family style dinner and share our stories and experiences.
